In his forthcoming release One Extreme to Another (the first of his on Jack Trax), Melbourne-based artist dyLAB brings us three groovy new tracks perfect for bringing heat to chilly midwinter dancefloors.
The first, “That’s The Look”, is a funky, hats-heavy tune with a repetitious yet engaging acid refrain, which comes in just shy of 8 minutes but could easily be twice that length without risk of the losing the floor.
A somewhat moodier alternative to the opening track, “What’s The Look” opens with a gloomy, echoing monotonal synth line before picking up in energy with a deep kick and a hypnotic acid pattern. The combination is beyond seductive, making the track nearly impossible to stand still to.
Opening with a thick and ominous kick and an icy snare, the final track on this release, “Who’s Got The Look”, is without a doubt the darkest of the three. Equal in energy to the previous two, spaced-out, robotic synths, frantic percussion, and a gritty 303 sound palette set this track apart from the others.
