Gettoblaster’s jackin release opens with “Let The Beat Control My Mind”, featuring a variety of tightly syncopated claps, juicy toms, a bassy pulsing undercurrent, and a pairing of hypnotic vocal samples that meld the classic with the modern to showcase the duo’s particular brand of Chicago- and Detroit-influenced ghetto house.

“Cake Pops” jumps off with a boomy four-on-the-floor kick combined with a bright and playful monophonic synth theme that takes on a mysterious quality as the track builds in intensity and complexity.

The release’s final track “Fantasy” sees Afro Acid label boss DJ Pierre leading off with a potent driving beat that does not come up for air, but amplifies patiently throughout the track, with a playful arpeggiated chime, subtle bells, and the deeply alluring refrain of “Fantasy” by featured vocalist Missy, selectively distorted, rounding out the clearly expert acid house master’s work from beginning to end.
