The latest from Detroit-based house and techno duo Gettoblaster is “Future Funk”, set for official release on December 7th. True to their roots, the forthcoming release showcases their Detroit ghettotech influence with a booming kick and a powerful bassline so characteristic of the genre. With an updated approach to this classic sound, the EP’s title track peppers in dramatic reverb builds and sharp drops interlaced with playfully varied percussive themes that comprise the artist’s signature sound.
“Rubber Band” builds its energy more patiently, featuring a deep, syncopated groove and a quirky but phonically simple central theme that makes intuitive sense with the track’s name. While melodically stripped down, the track’s real focus is on percussion and groove, which change and deviate countless times in the over 6-minute track, keeping energy high and dancing bodies locked throughout.
The EP’s final track is “Dippin Dots”, a rumbling heavy-hitter featuring a persistent, driving clap and psychedelic groove that will get any room bumping.
